Fully digitized Savings Bank Account opening through browser and tablets has been launched by the Bank pan-India and has become a game changer and the way of banking into the future. At present 11 Savings Bank products are covered under Tab Banking viz. Baroda Advantage, Baroda Bachat Mitra, Baroda Centenary, Baroda Champ, Baroda Mahila Shakti, Baroda Senior Citizen Privilege, Baroda Salary Classic, Baroda Salary Super, Baroda Salary-Premium, Baroda Salary-Privilege and Baroda Super Savings accounts.
All Branches across the country have been provided with Tablets and more than 35 lakhs accounts opened so far. The percentage of eligible accounts opened thru Tab banking is around 90%. The account opening process is seamless and eKYC enabled. The account is activated on real time basis and the whole process takes less than 10 minutes.
The Account is validated for three inputs viz., Aadhaar Number and PAN Number for new customer and mobile number for existing customer.
It is paperless banking in the sense only one page specimen signature format is taken for capturing the signature of the customer. In other words, no self-attested copies of documents like PAN Card, Aadhaar Card, etc., are required to be given by the customer. Photograph of the customer is fetched from Aadhaar or captured from the camera of the TAB itself.
For existing customers, the mobile number is authenticated and cust ids attached to the mobile number are fetched for account opening.
Account can be opened by any staff member, but verification of the account can be done only by the officer of the branch in which the account is opened.
This on the move banking is 24/7 and could be gainfully targeted at customer’s doorstep at the convenience of the customer.
The ease of account opening is such that one branch opened 400 accounts on a single day.
All the branches are provided with bio-metric devices for capturing Aadhaar details from UIDAI server during the account opening process itself.
The browser based utility will also have self-service, self –terminating account maintenance request fulfilment by the customer. Some of the requests pertain to cheque book, debit card personalized/non personalized , online forms, account query, subscription to services, etc
